This is the very first tramway operated in Andalucia! There is currently a single line between the church of Torre del Mar not far from our apartment and the park Jurado Lorca in Velez-Malaga (phase 1). As of this writing (feb 08), the line has been extended to the old train station of Velez-Malaga but that part of the line was not yet open. There was a train coming from Malaga and stopping in Torre del Mar and in Velez-Malaga before heading into the mountains towards Periana and further but its operations were stopped in the 60's and converted into lines of buses. Malaga is currently developing its own underground metro which should integrate this line at some time in a not so near future. In the meantime, this tramway line will be also extended towards Malaga along the national road and the sea. This tramway has already a few interesting stops like the hospital of Torre del Mar (near the Baviera golf) and the El Ingenio mall with the Eroski supermarket, the Dunnes Store and cinema theatres.
